Edits:  (1) Capitalization of residual solvents is  inconsistent in Table 1 (e.g., "Acetonitrile" and  "acetonitrile" and "Acetone" and "acetone") can  be found in Table 1. (2) Duplicates were removed; lowest action levels  are listed.

Table 1: Why are some residual solvents listed  more than once and with different limits? Some  explanation should be offered.

Line 34 : What is signal and what is noise?  Apparent concentration is signal; noise is noise of  blank Recommendation to put “background” before  noise.   Line 55:   Recommendation to specify short period  on….. … “individually prepared test portions”

Edit: SMPR to "signal to background noise"

Edit: Variation arising when all efforts are made to  keep conditions constant by using the same  instrument and operator and repeated on  individually prepared sample/test portions.

Comments Submitted Comment or Concern Table 1:   Add less than or equal to at all lower  levels in each row.  Recommendation to reduce  lower end of analytical range to ½ of the target  LOQ (or 1/3) Table 3:   1 – How do we verify these are met?    Suggestion to reference appropriate AOAC  document. Note:  review the RSDR in light of comment  regarding feasibility as discussed by Robert  LaBudde.   Suggestion to compare observed RSDR to limit. Make units in this table consistent (will use PPM)

Response

Edits:  (1) Changed:  Lower (≤ ppm) (2) Changed target LOQ to 50% of Action Level (1) These are referenced in AOAC Appendix F

(2)  SMPR follows AOAC Appendix F guidelines

(3)   SMPR follows AOAC Appendix F guidelines Edit: (4)   mg/kg was replaced with ppm
