OBJECT: RECOMMENDATION FOR NEW OMB MEMBERS

Dear Dr Roman ,

I am Prof. Pasqualina Laganà, currently working at the Department of Biomedical and Dental Sciences and Morphofunctional Imaging, University of Messina, Italy. With relation to the above-mentioned object concerning AOAC International and the AOAC Official Methods Board (OMB), I have been informed that Prof Salvatore Parisi – currently visiting professor at the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Al-Balqa Applied University (BAU), Jordan - has been nominated for the AOAC Official Methods Board (OMB). Consequently, I am very happy to recommend Prof Parisi for this role because of His previous cooperation with me and University of Messina. In detail, Prof. Parisi has cooperated with me since 2003, at the 2 nd Master in Food Hygiene and Food Legislation (I.A.L.A.), teaching different arguments: s helf-life prediction and control of Foods; food packaging and HACCP-related problems; prediction of microbiological growing curves in cheese; chemometrics in cheese. He also presented one of Master candidates with an original thesis on hygiene and safety evaluation of a typical Sicilian specialty. Subsequently, Prof Parisi has cooperated with University of Messina as a Research Potential until 2013, focusing His activity on shelf-life, chemical and microbiological profiles of foods and beverages, food packaging materials, and quality systems (more of 50 papers and book chapters have been co-authored with us). He also reached PhD in “Hygiene applied to the Evaluation and Management of Microbiological, Food and Environmental Risks” (2010) at the University of Messina. Prof Parisi has also worked (1996-to-date) in the industrial field (packaging materials; cheese and cheese-like products; chemical consultancies; etc.) with an interesting result, because of the concomitant academic and private activity in Italy and abroad. In this double role, He has realized different software programs and two patent-pending software with University of Messina.
