Re: Dr. Håkan Emteborg’s active participation in AOAC International’s Technical Division for Reference Materials. In my position as the Chair of AOAC International’s Technical Division for Reference Materials (TDRM) I would like to highlight the great value that Dr. Emteborg’s active participation in our activities convey to our organization. His great communication skills facilitate his sharing of pertinent information regarding discussions and decisions surrounding reference materials and quality standards within the European Union and he has successfully led several workshops centered around these topics. AOAC International is a global organization and Dr. Emteborg truly adds value to this by contributing a European perspective. Through his efforts the positions and goals of the European Commission on reference materials and quality issues are much better understood and accepted here in the US. Quality and reference material standards have a strong global focus and close coordination between the EU and US facilitates international cooperation. I hope that the European Commission will continue to support Dr. Emteborg’s active participation in TDRM including the continuance of his participation as an Appointed Member on the TDRM Executive Committee for another 3 year term. He is the only European representative on TDRM’s Executive Committee and also serves as the link between TDRM & ISO REMCO.
