Dear Mrs Roman, I am addressing this letter to you as immediate past chair of the AOAC OMB. In my position as head ofUnit for Reference Materials of the European Commission's Joint Research Centre, Directorate for Health Consumers and Reference Materials I would like to stress the value that Dr Emteborg brings to the development of Certified Reference Materials (CRMs) for Europe and beyond https://crm.irc.ec.euiOpa.eu/. He has a very long career in the area. In my Unit he is coordinating and responsible for all laboratory activities operated under ISO 17025 and ISO 17034. In addition he is the team leader for all processing activities of the Unit towards the development of CRMs. Dr Emteborg uses his excellent communication skills bringing in new ideas not only in the Unit, the European Commission but also beyond including his tenure as Appointed Member of the AOAC TDRM Executive Committee. Therefore I would like to support Dr Emteborg’s active participation in OMB. He will be a valuable member for the Board bringing in the Europe perspective while linking with the Americas and international organisations.
