A qualified biochemist with over 25 years of post-doctoral experience in the field of analytical chemistry applications. Presently working as Technical Manager for AsureQuality, a leading State Owned Enterprise in New Zealand. AsureQuality offers world class food safety and biosecurity services to the food and primary production sectors worldwide. As the Chemistry Technical Manager based at AsureQuality’s Auckland Laboratory, I am responsible for addressing overall technical matters related to the business and provide directions and support to AsureQuality laboratories in Australia, Singapore, Christchurch and Saudi Arabia on a regular basis. I work closely with AOAC International, ISO, IDF, Standards New Zealand and CODEX at various capacities. Recently ISO TC 34 / WG 14 recommended me to work with Project Leader for ISO/NP TR 23304 - expression of vitamins in foods. I was the MLT Study Director for AOAC Official Method 2016.02 for biotin which I have developed and validated at AsureQuality as part of the SPIFAN activity. The biotin method is now published by ISO as DIS 23305 and being considered by CODEX as Type II method. Well experienced in technical applications, standardizing new methods and techniques, implementing safety procedures, establishing manuals for safe handling of chemicals & bio- hazardous materials as per various regulatory guidelines, imparting technical training to team members and key technical personnel, problem resolution, supplier evaluation, maintaining good customer relations, periodically conducting customer visits / meetings / teleconferences, identifying customer requirements and implementing solutions that meets customer needs, increasing profitability for the department and controlling costs. Demonstrated abilities in building healthy relationships with internal and external business partners and leading workforce towards accomplishing department objectives. Good team player and motivator, possessing strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.

KEY TECHNICAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

Science and Technology • Excellent fundamental biochemistry / analytical chemistry knowledge. • Proficient with cGMP procedures and pharmaceutical monographs. • Extensive experience with method development and validation. • Key techniques include:

o HPLC, UPLC, GC, IC, UV/Vis and Wet Chemistry Techniques. Chromatographic experience with; silica and reverse phase (including TLC), ion exchange, size exclusion, affinity etc. o Wide range of sample preparation techniques, SPE, Ion Exchange, LLE, SPME, Static Head Space Gas Chromatography.  Critical Thinking/Decision Making/Problem solving • Experience analysing complicated problems and making appropriate, logical decisions. • My multi-disciplinary exposure / training provide a novel perspective for finding innovative solutions to problems. Project Experience • Experience working on multiple, concurrent projects. • Experience planning complicated scientific projects involving multiple team members. 
