require at least three days for a negative result and often many more days if there are potential

or actual Salmonella present in an enriched matrix. Rapid methods for screening Salmonella

have been developed, but these generally require two days of enrichment. By contrast, the

BAX® System detects the pathogen approximately 1.5 hours after a 12-24 hour enrichment,

and the DNA-based results are both reliable and reproducible, leading to quicker release of

cleared product.
