Bacterial Verification

Why verify?‐Professional Data generated with the wrong species will be rendered invalid.

Example‐ “I received a strain from a colleague.  Verified it was  G+ cocci by staining and did a  catalase test.  It was positive. I assumed it was  Staphylococcus and continued to use it.”

Example‐ “The strain had some interesting properties. The DNA extracted from the culture was  positive for the plasmid of interest.  No microscopic examination was ever done that would have  shown a mix of G+ and G‐ organisms.”
