How is verification done in other kingdoms? Bacterial Verification

Cell line authentication: Species is verified by COI‐ ribosomal genes aligned with a public database “Barcode of Life” Strain‐verified by STR analysis of cell lines.  ATCC (and other collections) maintain a public database of STR  profiles of  human cell lines.  Service providers will analyze your cell line for the STR profile and provide 3 rd party verification that the STR matches (or does not match) database standard  for your cell line. Many journals and funding agencies now require 3 rd party authentication of cell lines.

Bacterial Verification

Considerations for Verification: The name‐ For example‐ will it be  Francisella tularensis  subsp. novicida or Francisella novicida  or  acknowledge all synonyms?

The sequence‐ if it needs to align with a reference sequence‐ Does the sequence needs to be identified  and secured?
