I.

INTRODUCTION (Sullivan - 1:00pm – 1:10pm) Mr. Darryl Sullivan will call the Stakeholder Program meeting to order and introduce/welcome all participants. In addition, the AOAC policies for Antitrust, Volunteer Conflict of Interest, and Use of Association Name and Insignia will be reviewed. GLOBAL ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITIES a. Progress of China GB Evaluation and Standards Comparison Study – with Support from the China Section (Liang - 1:10pm – 1:20pm) Dr. Cheng-Zhu Liang (Director, Qingdao Customs Technical Center) will provide an update on the collaboration with the AOAC China Section. b. Codex Updates (Sullivan et al. - 1:20pm – 1:30pm) Mr. Darryl Sullivan will provide a brief update on the Codex process in relation to the review and adoption of AOAC SPIFAN Methods. c. ISO/IDF Update (Cruijsen/de Vreeze/Dubois/Trossat - 1:30pm – 1:40pm) Drs. Hans Cruijsen ( FrieslandCampina , ISO) et al. will provide updates related to infant formula and adult nutritional activities.

III. AOAC SPIFAN RELATED TOPICS, UPDATES & DISCUSSIONS a. NIST Update (Bryan - 1:40pm – 1:50pm)

Dr. Colleen Bryan ( NIST ) will provide an update on NIST Reference Materials and QAP.

b. Heavy Metals Update (Maniei - 1:50pm – 2:00pm) Dr. Farzaneh Maniei ( The Coca-Cola Co. ) will update the stakeholders on the Heavy Metals project.

IV. WORKING GROUP UPDATE a. Vanillin Working Group Co-Chairs (Draher & Jing - 2:00pm – 2:15pm)

Dr. Jonathan Draher ( Abbott Nutrition ) & Dr. Xiao Jing ( CFSA ) will provide an update on the proposed Standard Method Performance Requirements ( SMPR ®) for Vanillin in Infant and Adult/Pediatric Nutritional Formula currently in review by the working group. b. Milk Fat Globule Membrane (van Gool - 2:15pm – 2:30pm) Dr. Martine van Gool ( FrieslandCampina ) will present information pertaining to Milk Fat Globule Membrane (MFGM) prior to the formation of the working group.

V. DISCUSSION ON PROTEIN EFFICIENCY RATIO (PER) RAT BIOASSAY: CHALLENGES AND GUIDANCE (Srigley - 2:45pm – 3:15pm) Dr. Cynthia Srigley ( Food and Drug Administration ) will provide additional information on the Protein Efficiency Ratio (PER) Rat Bioassay. VI. DISCUSSION ON PROBIOTICS IN INFANT FORMULA (Lienau - 3:15pm – 3:45pm) Dr. Andrew Lienau ( MilliporeSigma ) will discuss the challenges of testing microbial contaminants in infant formula containing probiotics. VII. METHODS UPDATE AND EXPERT REVIEW PANEL INFORMATION (Sullivan - 3:45pm – 3:55pm) Sullivan will provide an update on the methods submitted for review, the results and next steps for the AOAC SPIFAN Expert Review Panel meeting to be held November 2023. VIII. TIMELINES/DEADLINES/WRAP-UP (Sullivan - 3:55pm – 4:00pm) Sullivan will provide a timeline of AOAC SPIFAN activities including upcoming deadlines, review of any action items, and additional questions.
