STAKEHOLDER PANEL ON INFANT FORMULA AND ADULT NUTRITIONALS (SPIFAN)

Philip Haselberger, Abbott Nutrition Amino Acids Working Group Co-Chair

Phil is currently the global in-house principal subject matter expert for amino acid, carbohydrate and nucleotide/nucleoside analysis for Abbott Nutrition. His responsibilities include troubleshooting and developing methodologies for determining these priority nutrients in infant and adult nutritional formulations. Phil has worked for Abbott since 2002 and is responsible for the development and troubleshooting of amino acid, carbohydrate, and nucleotide methods. He also serves as in an internal advisor on emerging analytical challenges relevant to Codex, including amino acids, protein, and sweetness in follow up formula. Phil began his career as an analytical scientist after joining Abbott in 2002, running over 40 routine quality assurance test methods on multiple food matrices. This first-hand experience served as a foundation for his current role. He is a member of the American Academy for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), American Chemical Society (ACS), AOAC international (involved in SPIFAN, SPDS, and SPSFAM in multiple working group and/or ERP roles), International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC), and the USP (Dietary Protein expert panel, and Prebiotics roundtable). Prior to joining Abbott, he earned his undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Capital University in Columbus, OH. He is currently pursuing a graduate degree in analytical chemistry, having accumulated credits from both the Ohio State University (Columbus, OH) and Lehigh University (Bethlehem, PA).
