STAKEHOLDER PANEL ON INFANT FORMULA AND ADULT NUTRITIONALS (SPIFAN)

Marcel de Vreeze, NEN–Netherlands International Standardization Organization (ISO)

Marcel de Vreeze works as a standardization consultant at the department AgroFood & Consumer of NEN, the Netherlands Standardization Institute. NEN is a full member of CEN (European Standardization Organization) and ISO (International Standardization Organization).

Since end 2014, Marcel holds the secretariat of the ISO Technical Subcommittee ISO/TC 34/SC 5 on Milk and Milk

products. SC 5 closely cooperates with IDF (International Dairy Federation) in the joint publication of International Standards with methods of analysis and sampling for milk and milk products, and with AOAC-SPIFAN. He is member of the Chairman Advisory Group (CAG) of ISO/TC 34 on Food Products. Marcel holds the secretariat of the ISOWorking Group ISO/TC 34/WG 14 – 'Vitamins, carotenoids and other nutrients'. WG 14 is active in preparing ISO standards on methods of analysis for several nutrients relevant for infant formula and adult nutrition. This work is done in close cooperation with AOAC-SPIFAN. At CEN (European) level, he holds the secretariat of a Working Group on process contaminants. This group last year finalized a project mandated by the European Commission, resulting in the publication of nine new European standards with interlaboratory validated method of analysis on several process contaminants in food, amongst them standardized methods of analysis for PAHs, acrylamide, benzene, mineral oil in vegetable oil, melamine and 3-MCPD. At national level, he coordinates the Dutch input in the ISO standard on food safety management systems (ISO 22000), which forms the basis of the FSSC 22000 food safety management certification scheme. Related to ISO 22000, The Netherlands initiated a new international project with prerequisites on storage & distribution in the supply chain.
