Conclusions

• EC re for low levels of chlorate/perchlorate in IF plus several analytical shortcomings may challenge IF industry w/in next few years • SPIFAN can help industry stay ahead of challenge by building capacity for chlorate/perchlorate determination in IF • Preliminary work needed to resolve analytical gaps before standardizing method • Recommend Phase I proficiency study to evaluate sample matrices and lab-to-lab variability in Q4’19 and Q1’20 • Phase II would develop SMPR and standard method for chlorate/perchlorate in IF (pending Phase I outcomes) • Seeking from SPIFAN stakeholders: • Feedback and alignment on proposal • Guidance on process • Participation in Phase I proficiency study
