Conclusions & recommendations fatty acids

Considerations for future harmonization of methods X C11:0 FAME (quantification) and C13:0 TAG (transesterification performance) used as internal standards are suitable for analysis of all foods. X The use of instrument response factors is highly recommended to quantify fatty acids accurately. X When these elements are included in the method: - Fatty acids can be analyzed using direct or indirect method (i.e. fat extraction or not) - Different reagents can be used for the transesterification (i.e. according to lipid and matrix complexity) - Fatty acids results are quantitative and “true”, they can be expressed in all desired formats (i.e. gFA/100 g totalFA, gFA/100 g fat, gFA/100 g product, gFA serving size and more and more…).
