FREE AAs Free amino acids are those that can be determined without depolymerizing the peptide/protein sample fraction, including Asn and Gln, and Taurine

Fitness for Purpose TOTAL AAs

The total concentration of any amino acid includes the free form plus that released by exhaustive hydrolysis of the sample protein/peptide component(s). Amino acids reported as part of a total AA determination are the common amino acids and Taurine. Only the sums Asp+Asn (expressed as Asp or, preferably, Asx) and Glu+ Gln (expressed as Glu or, preferably Glx) are reported.
