However, the acceptability requirements have been modified from the SMPR requirements. The AOAC SMPR requires a spike recovery of 97-102%. For our current method, we use an acceptability spike recovery range of 85-115%, which was modified from Appendix K of the AOAC Guidelines for Dietary Supplements and Botanicals based on the performance of the method and the inherent variability of headspace gas chromatography.
