User complaints
No user complaint was reported for the method OMA 2017.09. One complaint was received for the use of the method OMA 2017.10, and Listeria species identification. The outcomes of the investigation are presented Table 3 . Table 3: Investigation of a Listeria spp. isolate Date Action and contact Detailed information March 2019 First identification of a wild
An isolated was identified as Listeria monocytogenes with the MALDI Biotyper using the protocol of the AOAC-OMA 2017.10 and MicroVal 2017.LR75 certificate. The L. monocytogenes isolates are usually sent to BfR - Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (Germany).

March 2019
The sample was sent to BfR and was identified as Listeria innocua using a PCR method.
The sample spectrum is atypical regarding two peaks and is identified to L. monocytogenes . The isolate was therefore sent for further investigation to Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety, AGES Multi Locus Squence Typing shows 99.7% good matching with an ad-hoc L. innocua scheme with 2.328 core genome targets. The ribosomal MLST (rMLST) shows also the best match to L. innocua , but only to 80% of the ribosomal genes; 9 of of 53 target genes were found, but not assignable to a species. The Average Nucleotide Identity (ANI) after DNA-DNA hybridization shows 98.3% identity to L. innocua. The isolate is closed to L. innocua, but is considered atypical. Therefore, the isolate was sent to Pasteur Institute. Pasteur confirms the results of AGES. Additional Whole Genome Sequencing was run, and the strain belongs to L. innocua phylogenetic clade.
