ISO/TC 34 Draft resolution 161 for the creation of a new Working Group “qNMR (Quantitative nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy)”

Dear Member,

During the last ISO/TC 34 plenary meeting in Washington DC in October 2018, the following resolution was taken: Resolution 147/2018 New proposal from Japan on Quantitative nuclear magnetic resonance TC 34 welcomed the proposal from Japan on “Quantitative nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy - Quantification of reference compounds used for foods and food products - General requirements”. The NWIP ballot will be launched when the proposal is ready, together with a ballot on the creation of a new WG under TC 34 , led by Japan. In case the NWIP is accepted, a liaison with ISO/REMCO would be necessary. The proposal is now ready and a New Work Item Proposal (NWIP) on “Quantitative nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy — Purity determination of organic compounds used for foods and food products — General requirements” is currently under balloting in ISO/TC 34 (see doc N2078). A consultation is being launched in parallel among ISO/TC 34 on the creation of a new working group on “Vegan”, if the ballot on this NWIP is positive. Japan proposes Dr. Naoki SUGIMOTO as project leader and Dr Takeshi SAITO as convenor (see resume hereafter). Draft resolution 161/2019 TC 34 agrees to establish a new working group "qNMR (Quantitative nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy)” under ISO/TC 34, with Dr Takeshi SAITO as convenor.
