ISO/TC 34/ WG 24 qNMR just published ISO 24583:2022 "Quantitative nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy — Purity determination of organic compounds used for foods and food products — General requirements for 1H NMR internal standard method". Therefore WG 24 could be closed but as there is a suggestion from the convenor to work on another NMR related quantification procedure, it is proposed to maintain the WG.

The mandate of the convenor of ISO/TC 34/WG 24 has expired at the end of 2022. ISO/TC 34 members are kindly requested to vote on the hereunder draft resolution on the CIB:

Draft resolution 196/2023 "ISO/TC 34/WG 14 TC 34 agree to reappoint Dr Takeshi SAITO, Japan, as convenor of ISO/TC 34/WG 24 " qNMR (Quantitative nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy) " for a new 3-years term until the end of 2025.

Convenor resume:

SAITO, Takeshi (Ph.D) Principal Research Manager Research Institute of Material and Chemical Measurement, National Metrology Institute of Japan (NMIJ), National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) The traceability of chemical measurements becomes more important. In the last two decades, Takeshi has been engaged in developing and utilizing nuclear magnetic resonance as a quantitative measurement tool for organic materials. He proposed a new metrological traceability scheme using quantitative nuclear magnetic resonance (qNMR) in production of organic reference materials. The concept has been widely accepted and used in many fields. He is proud of having been involved in such projects that can produce more traceable reference materials and thereby make analytical results more comparable and reliable. He is hoping to make the qNMR more popular and accessible by analysts in many fields who need traceable reference materials for their own quantitative analyses. Description on the current job or research ■ Quantification of purity (contents, potency) for organic materials using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. ■ Advancement of spectral database for organic compounds, SDBS. ■ Head of delicate, convenor (WG18), expert, and secretary (mirror committee in Japan) of ISO/REMCO (committee on reference material). ■ Member of Japanese mirror committee, ISO/CASCO WG23 and WG49.
