I. Summary of the Method

The LactoSense method is a biosensor assay kit developed for the determination of lactose in a variety of lactose-free or low-lactose milk and dairy products produced with yeast neutral lactases. The LactoSense method was validated in single laboratory studies for calibration, interference, repeatability, recovery and robustness. Samples naturally containing lactose were evaluated in a method comparison study using an accredited high-performance anion- exchange chromatography with pulsed amperometric detection method as a reference method. On basis of the results obtained, the LactoSense method meets the requirements of SMPR 2018.009 and should be adopted as a First Action AOAC Official method
