Harmonization Studies:  AOAC Acceptance Process

• ILS report is submitted electronically to  Microbiology Expert Review Panel for  review • Method Developer (and/or Expert Lab)  present study to Micro ERP in person  • Conducted 4 times during the year: AOAC Annual  Meeting, AOAC Mid‐Year Meeting, June &  December BOD Meetings • ERP will vote for approval/rejection of the  study • Approval earns the method First Action  Status • Method is First Action for 2 years as  feedback from end users is sought • Micro ERP will solicit this information from  method developer and then recommend  Final Action status to the Official Method  Board

• For PTM submissions, PTM report is  submitted and reviewed by Volunteer  Expert and 2 Expert Reviewers  • If data is accepted PTM certification is  approved • Method Developer will then consult with  AOAC TC to develop collaborative protocol • Protocol is reviewed by Volunteer Expert  • For straight to OMA studies, method  developer data is not reviewed prior to  conducting the ILS study.  The data may be  reviewed as supplementary material to the  ILS study. and 2 Expert Reviewers • ILS study is performed
