Limit of Detection (LOD)
Discussion Source: Guidelines for Single Laboratory Validation (SLV) of Chemical Methods for Metals in Food Limit of Detection (LOD ): The lowest concentration of analyte in a sample that can be detected, but not necessarily quantitated under the stated conditions of the test. Limit of Detection : “The true net concentration or amount of the analyte in the material to be analyzed which will lead, with probability (1-β), to the conclusion that the concentration or amount of the analyte in the analyzed material is larger than that in the blank material.
