Sr. Staff Review Dr. Johnson has been a very active member of the SPDS working groups. She served as chair of the SPDS Skullcap Working Group. She has also served a SPDS ERPs. She has also chaired the SPSFAM Proanthocyanidins ERP. Dr. Johnson is willing serve and is recommended to chair all six (6) proposed SPDS. Dr. Monagas is a Scientific Liaison for Dietary Supplements and Herbal Medicines at the United States Pharmacopeia (USP). She is responsible for development and revision of monographs and general chapters, and for responding to internal and external queries related to the Botanical Dietary Supplements Section of USP‐NF. She also liaises between external parties and USP Expert Committee Members and assists in planning and organizing Expert Committee and Expert Panel work assignments. Dr. Monagas has more than 20 years of experience in the analysis, characterization, and assessment of bioactivity and bioavailability of polyphenols in botanical dietary ingredients, in particular, proanthocyadinin‐rich materials (grapes, grape seeds, almond skins, cocoa and cranberry). Before joining USP, she held a tenure‐track research position at the Spanish National Research Council (CIAL‐CSIC, Madrid, Spain) and a Visiting Researcher position at the USDA Human Nutrition Center (Beltsville, MD, USA). She contributed to more than 70 publications, including original papers, review papers and book chapters. Dr. Monagas is the co‐inventor on two industrial patents related to methods of preparation and bioactivity assessment of proanthocyanidin‐ rich extracts from almond skins and cat’s claw. Dr. Monagas has tremendous botanical experience. She was an active member of the SPDS Working Groups on Skullcap, Kavalactones, and Resveratrol. She has applied only for the SPDS Skullcap ERP.
