Statement of Expertise My research interests cover analytical chemistry especially pharmaceuticals and chiral compounds. I have been working on determination of SAMe from new developed drug delivery systems and rat plasma by using HPLC. Sr. Staff Review Dr. Gumustas has expertise in a variety of methodologies for variety of drugs and chiral active compounds. While he has experience with instrumentation, there doesn’t not seem to be evidence of experience with any of the ingredients that are subjects for SPDS ERPs aside from the statement of expertise. He has only applied for the SPDS SAMe ERP. Staff Recommendation Do Not Recommend at this time for the SPDS SAMe ERP. Statement of Expertise Kan has been an active member of the SPDS for several years and has participated on numerous working groups and is a member of the Aloe Vera ERP. Kan He is a Sr. Principal Scientist at Herbalife Botanical Research and Ingredient Development. He is responsible for botanical ingredient research for Herbalife product pipeline and has been involved in botanical product design, development and manufacturing. Before joining Herbalife, Kan He led an R&D team that studied and developed new methods and new dietary supplements at Pure World Botanicals and Naturex, respectively. Kan He earned his BSc and MSc in Pharmacy and Medicinal Chemistry from the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, received a Ph.D. in Pharmacognosy from the University of Arizona Pharmaceutical Sciences and completed postdoctoral research at Purdue University. With over 20 years in natural product chemistry research and nutraceutical and supplemental industrial experiences, he has authored or co‐authored over 70 research papers in peer‐reviewed journals and book chapters. He also holds 11 US patents on the development of new herbal ingredients and new herbal manufacturing processes. He is also an OA representative to AOAC for Herbalife.
