MEMORANDUM

Date:

January 11, 2018

To:

AOAC INTERNATIONAL Official Methods Board

From:

Deborah McKenzie

Subject:  Dietary Starch and Fiber Methods  When method authors submit methods in response to a Call for Methods or to the AOAC Research  Institute, they are reviewed by an expert review panel (ERP) for OMA First Action status.  Often,  there are editorial changes to manuscripts and methods required prior to adoption of a method by  an ERP.  For the most part, method authors make these changes prior to publication.   What happens if an ERP approves a method with the editorial changes and one of the following  happens:

1. The method author decides that he/she will not make the changes; or   2. The method author decides that he/she wants to withdraw the method

Recommendation:   OMB should discuss the options for the ERP and the method author during its  mid‐winter meeting.
