Dear Colleagues,

The next Stakeholder Panel on Agent Detection Assays (SPADA) is being held on February 3 & 4, 2015 in the Lobby  Conference room of AOAC new offices in Rockville, MD.

Conference Center   2275 Research Blvd  Rockville, MD  20850

The attached Agenda for this SPADA meeting will be specific to the development of Standard Analytical Method  Performance Requirements (SMPR) for three biological threat agents and associated detection techniques:  1)  Detection  of Coxiella burnetti by Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR); 2)  Detection of Venezuelan Equine Encephalitis virus by PCR,  with the possibility of developing a single SMPR for a combination of  Venezuelan Equine Encephalitis virus + Western  Equine Encephalitis virus + Eastern Equine Encephalitis virus; and 3) Detection of Staphylococcus enterotoxin B (SEB) by  protein assay.  To give you some background, DUSA‐TE is working to support and improve the test and evaluation standards for DoD,  CBRN defense systems.  To accomplish their goals, DUSA‐TE has asked The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics  Laboratory and AOAC INTERNATIONAL to develop SMPRs for the three biological threat agents.   As in the past, AOAC will perform its standards development work through SPADA and working groups to ensure buy‐in  and acceptability of the SMPRs in an open and transparent consensus‐based process.  Matt Davenport, JHU/APL, will  Chair this effort.    Limited space is available for this meeting.  To avoid disappointment, please make sure to register now. If you have any  questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us by reply email or at SPADA@aoac.org .    On day two, three Working Groups will also meet, one for each agent.
