POSITION SUMMARY: In keeping with the mission of the AOAC INTERNATIONAL Official Methods Board (OMB), members will serve the Association in a scientific and advisory capacity regarding the methods validation and consensus-building processes. Members shall strive to maintain the integrity and reputation of AOAC’s method approval processes that have been the foundation of the Association. The OMB recommends policies to the Board of Directors with regards to reviewing/rendering decisions concerning methods, and will also assist in the advancement of the latest technology, innovation and discipline. Ethical conduct, proper treatment of confidential information, and identification of conflicts of interest are also of the utmost importance. The OMB meets three times per year, twice at AOAC headquarters in Gaithersburg, MD and once at the AOAC Annual Meeting. There will be follow-up questions/discussions by email and conference calls. In addition, due to the sensitive nature of some matters, members may be required to sign a non disclosure and/or confidentiality agreement.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Must be a recognized leader among peers in one’s respective community.  5-10 years of management experience in government, industry, or academia.  Demonstrated commitment to the Association.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR MEMBER OF THE OMB:  Must provide current Curriculum Vitae.  Must be a member of AOAC INTERATIONAL in good standing o

Must have a letter of support from the sponsoring organization [employer/supervisor]. o Must have an executed AOAC Volunteer Acceptance Form. o Must provide two letters of recommendation from someone other than an employee, employer or supervisor.  Should be willing and capable of acting as a Liaison with the Communities, Technical Divisions, Research Institute, and other major Stakeholders.
