State of Maryland, Department of Agriculture, Annapolis, MD State Chemist, State Chemist Section 2016 - Present Administrative Responsibilites: Directs, coordinates, and administers Section activities, which include, but are not limited to, purchasing of equipment and supplies; development of program standards and goals; evaluation of program standards and goals; develop and implement proposed legislation and regulations for further governance of the Section’s regulated commodities; provides technical and scientific guidance to chemists, technicians, inspectors, administrative, and clerical staff; and prepares reports and documents concerning Section activities. Performs fiscal and budgetary management of Section programs. Planning, Coordination, and Representation: Plans, organizes, and directs activities of staff and evaluates effectiveness of programs conducted by subordinates. Cooperates with other State and Federal agencies to coordinate Section Activities. Plans and coordinates public relations activities regarding programs. Acts as the Department’s representative with Maryland citizens, regulated industry representatives, and representatives of federal, state, or local agencies concerning Section activities.
