As described in the introduction, the validation study assessed intermediate precision (%RSD i , single lab, multiple days) and reproducibility %RSD R , multiple labs, multiple days). These types of precision were evaluated for the innate analyte levels included in the accuracy validation described in section F. Detailed results are provided in Appendix I Tables AI-1-1 to AI-1-9 (CRM) and AI-3-1 to AI-3-47 (innate from spikes) . Table 11 summarizes the intermediate precision and reproducibility results for matrices that were analyzed at multiple sites and Table 12 summarizes the intermediate precision results for matrices analyzed at a single lab. The precision results showed two results outside the SMPR criteria for repeatability. Maltose was slightly above the repeatability limit of 7% for one of the labs that analyzed the NIST 3233 Breakfast cereal (7.1% RSD). The same analyte was also slightly above the limit for the protein powder drink (7.2% RSD). Based on the wide scope of matrices included in the validation that passed SMPR criteria, the fact that these data are intermediate precision rather than repeatability, and the relative closeness of the aberrant results to the limit, the method is deemed to provide acceptable precision.
