SPSFAM EXPERT REVIEW PANEL

4. Based on the supporting information, is the method written clearly and concisely? If no, please specify the needed revisions. 5. Based on the supporting information, what are the pros/strengths of the method? 6. Based on the supporting information, what are the cons/weaknesses of the method?

The method is written clearly and concisely. I recommend showing an example of system blank data. BPA is ubiquitous and some times can be difficult to remove from the system. A comment by authors if they saw any BPA in system background and if so, how they overcome to reach a LOQ 0. 0.5 ug/L level.

The sample preparation is simple - no SPE etc. The same method is applicable to many matrices.

Nothing particular.

7. Any general comments about the method?

A good method, simple, applicable to many matrices and validated on all matrices going beyond the SMPR requirements. Good job by authors. A minor observation: The authors weigh 0.005 g of standard on a balance with accuracy up to 0.001 g. That may be a type. If not, this introduce significant error.

Do you recommend this method be adopted as a First Action and published in the Official Methods of Analysis of AOAC INTERNATIONAL? Please specify rationale.

Yes, I recommend the method. The method is sensitive, selective, applicable to many matrices, and validation performed on all the matrices.
