Journey of AOAC SPIFAN Methods

Getting to First Action: 1. Methods submitted in response to issued Call for Methods based on SMPR 2. Methods screened and selected methods are challenged with SPIFAN  reference materials and submitted to AOAC 3. Submitted methods reviewed by ERP and are, adopted as AOAC First Action  Official Methods based on the collective judgment of the ERP 1. ERP reviewed these methods and down selected to one method per nutrient 2. Method authors assess method reproducibility and method feedback is  solicited 3. ERP will review submitted methods for Final Action consideration – Methods meeting SMPRs will be recommended the AOAC Official Methods Board  for AOAC Final Action status B t Fi t d Fi l A ti e ween rs an na c on:

AOAC Expert Review Panel (ERP) Overview • ERP adopts methods as First Action Official Methods status • ERP tracks methods for two (2) years – ERP determines which method will be the  “recommended dispute  resolution method” • Recommended dispute resolution methods proceed with a   reproducibility program • ERP reviews decisions and any additional information
