Motion for Approval

We move for SPIFAN to approve version 2 of the  SMPR for amino acids with the following changes:

1. Addition of footnote to Table 1 (listing of target AAs, line 62 of SMPR document) to clarify that, when acid hydrolysis is used, Asn/Asp and Gln/Glu are not reported separately.

Motion for Approval

2. Addition of following to Applicability Statement (beginning at line 15) : For amino acids sensitive to modification during handling and/or processing (primarily methionine, lysine, and cysteine/cystine), which can result in forms that are no longer bioavailable, preference will be given to methods best able to discriminate against these modified forms. Forms to be excluded include but are not necessarily limited to methionine sulfone , , , methionine sulfoxide, cysteic acid, and lysine derived Maillard products. Method authors should specifically discuss, with appropriate supporting data, the ability to determine only unmodified forms of the target amino acids.
