Fellow of AOAC INTERNATIONAL The Fellow of AOAC INTERNATIONAL Award recognizes the dedication of the volunteers who serve the Association. Fellows are chosen from those members who have given 10 or more years of meritorious service to AOAC in an appointed capacity (1963), or those members who have served less than 10 years, but who have provided significant service to the association (November 2000). The newly elected Fellows are presented at the AOAC INTERNATIONAL Annual Meeting and receive an award. Members elected as Fellows remain so for life. They are listed each year in the membership directory, receive a "Fellow" ribbon at each annual meeting. Once retired, upon written request and payment of the annual Retired Fellow dues, Fellows are eligible for Retired Fellows status. Any special benefits accorded Retired Fellows shall be determined by the Board of Directors (September 1996). See Appendix A14.5. General Referee of the Year Award Established by the Board of Directors by recommendation of the Official Methods Board (OMB), the award recognizes outstanding volunteer commitment and leadership in method development on the part of a General Referee (September 1994). The awardee is recognized and receives an award at the AOAC INTERNATIONAL Annual Meeting. See Appendix A14.6. Collaborative Study of the Year Award This award recognizes excellence on the part of Study Directors with regard to scientific innovation and soundness of design, implementation, and reporting of a collaborative study with emphasis on noteworthy aspects, such as innovative technology or application, breadth of applicability, critical need, difficult analysis, or range of collaborators (1986). The Study Director who conducted the collaborative study of the year is recognized and receives an award at the AOAC INTERNATIONAL Annual Meeting. All collaborators participating in the study will receive a plaque and letter of appreciation. See Appendix A14.7. Study Director of the Year Awards The Study Director of the Year awards recognizes consistently outstanding performance by Study Directors over a period of years (1986). The maximum number of awards is one per methods committee. The awardees are recognized and receive awards at the AOAC INTERNATIONAL Annual Meeting. See Appendix A14.8. Methods Committee Advisor of the Year Award Established in 1995, the Committee Advisor of the Year Award is given to a Committee Statistician, Safety or other Advisor, in recognition of outstanding service in assistance to Associate Referees and review of methods, protocols, and collaborative studies. The awardee is recognized and receives an award at the AOAC INTERNATIONAL Annual Meeting. See Appendix A14.9.
