AOAC INTERNATIONAL TERMS OF REFERENCE

I.

NAME: HARVEY W. WILEY AWARD COMMITTEE

II.

MISSION: To select the recipient of the annual Harvey W. Wiley Award.

III. RESPONSIBILITIES:

(1) Review nominations annually and vote on the recipient of the award; (2) Review the nomination process and revise as appropriate to encourage additional nominations; (3) Assist in publicizing the award and encouraging nominations; (4) All Committee members, other than those holding ex officio appointments, serve at the pleasure of the President. All Committee members are expected to actively participate in the work of the Committee; including, but not limited to, promptly responding to communications, attending and actively participating in meetings, reviewing meeting background materials and agendas prior to meetings, and accepting and following through on assignments. Persons who do not actively participate will be removed from the committee by the President at the request of the Chair; and (5) If a committee member is nominated, that member must remove himself/herself from the committee until the nomination is no longer under consideration. IV. COMPOSITION AND ORGANIZATION: There shall be eight (8) Members, three at-large members who represent geographic regions outside North America so that there is a fair representation of membership. The President of AOAC will serve as the Chair. At least one past Wiley Award recipient will sit on the Committee as a member. Terms of appointment shall be staggered and for three years. Unless waived by the Board of Directors, no Member may serve more than two full terms without a break in service from the Committee. Appointments shall be made by the President in accordance with established AOAC policies. V. STAFF LIAISON: The Executive Director shall assign a member of the staff to serve as staff liaison. VI.
