• Should reference materials for method development be the same as for method application? • How does matrix/food variability affect the design of reference materials? – Can reference materials be designed to evaluate the suitability of a non- targeted method without needing to reflect the full natural variability of the matrix? • Should reference material development be uncoupled from the nature of the non-targeted methods?
