Basic AOAC Official Methods SM Program Activity Framework

• AOAC to issue call for experts and a call for methods (after publication of the SMPRs)

1. Call for Methods or Experts

• Method authors submit methods and data that may meet the approved SMPRs in AOAC manuscript format • ERPs are vetted, approved, and appointed. Methods are reviewed and ERPs meet to review and reach consensus on methods • Approved methods are published in the Official Methods of Analysis of AOAC INTERNATIONAL and in the Journal of AOAC INTERNATIONAL • ERP tracks approved methods with the method author. Methods meeting ERP & OMB requirements are recommended for Final Action status by ERP • Final versions of methods along with supporting documentation are submitted to OMB for their decision on the ERP’s recommendation
