MEETING MINUTES

I. Welcome and Introductions The Expert Review Panel Co-Chairs, Wendy McMahon and Michael Brodsky welcomed Expert Review Panel members and initiated introductions. The Chair(s) discussed with the panel the goal of the meeting. II. Review of AOAC Volunteer Policies & Expert Review Panel Process Overview and Guidelines Deborah McKenzie presented a brief overview of AOAC Volunteer Policies, Volunteer Acceptance Agreement and Expert Review Panel Policies and Procedures which included Volunteer Conflicts of Interest, Policy on the Use of the Association, Name, Initials, Identifying Insignia, Letterhead, and Business Cards, Antitrust Policy Statement and Guidelines, and the Volunteer Acceptance Form (VAF). All members of the ERP were required to submit and sign the Volunteer Acceptance Form. In addition, she also presented an overview of the ERP process including meeting logistics, consensus, First Action to Final Action requirements, and documentation. III. Review of Methods All ERP members presented a review and discussed the proposed collaborative study manuscript for OMAMAN-44: Enumeration of Enterobacteriaceae in Select Foods and Environmental Surfaces, Peel Plate EB submitted by Robert Salter, Charm Sciences Inc., 659 Andover St. Lawrence, MA 01843. The method author was present and able to address questions and concerns of the ERP members. 1 A summary of comments was provided to the ERP members and the method author. 2 By consensus, the ERP presented the following motions for OMAMAN-44. MOTION: Motion by Hammack; Second by Fatemi to move to adopt OMAMAN-44: Enumeration of Enterobacteriaceae in Select Foods and Environmental Surfaces, Peel Plate EB for AOAC First Action Official Methods status. Consensus demonstrated by: (Unanimous) 9 in favor, 0 opposed, and 0 abstentions. Motion Passed. IV. DISCUSS FINAL ACTION REQUIREMENTS FOR FIRST ACTION OFFICIAL METHODS (IF APPLICABLE) ERP will discuss, review and track First Action methods for 2 years after adoption, review any additional information (i.e., additional collaborative study data, proficiency testing, and other feedback) and make recommendations to the Official Methods Board regarding Final Action status. The ERP did not discuss any additional Final Action requirements. MOTION: Motion by Salfinger; Second by Hammack to request the following recommendations for AOAC Final Action Official Methods status consideration for OMAMAN-44: ▫ Solicit active positive and negative feedback Consensus demonstrated by: (Unanimous) 9 in favor, 0 opposed, and 0 abstentions. Motion Passed. All ERP members presented a review and discussed the AOAC Final Action requirements for OMA 2016.01: Salmonella Spp. in Select Foods and Environmental Surfaces, OMA 2016.07: Detection of Listeria Species in Select Foods and Environmental Surfaces, and OMA 2016.08: Listeria Monocytogenes in a Variety of Foods and Select Environmental Surfaces, originally submitted by Lisa Monteroso, 3M Food Safety, 3M Center, Building 260-06-B-01, St. Paul, MN 55144.
